FAQs
What is the first session like?
The first session is a “get to know eachother” conversation. I will have some questions to ask about what you want to focus on and you will get to know a bit more about my style. The therapy relationship is an important part of the work. I’m here to listen to anything you want to share about your goals, hopes, and wonderings. It is YOUR time and I want to ensure you are getting the most out of it and accomplishing your desires.
How much is therapy and do you take insurance?
Therapy sessions are $255 for 45 minutes. I have made a conscious choice to be an out-of network provider and therefore am not “in-network” with any insurance companies; however, if you have out of network benefits, I can provide you with a “superbill” to submit for reimbursement. You can contact your insurance company to get details on your out of network benefits. You can also utilize HSA and FSA for payment.
Do you have sliding scale slots available?
I do offer some sliding scale slots based on some specific factors such as no family financial supports, part of a marginalized community, students, or no out of network benefits. If you are wondering about equity-based sliding scales, please visit https://www.embracingequity.org/post/embracing-an-equitable-sliding-scale for more information.
What is depth-oriented therapy?
Depth-oriented therapy is about retrieving the parts of yourself that have been rejected, discarded, or lost along the way of life. It is going beyond the surface symptoms to deepen your connection with your inner world and engage in the process of becoming… becoming your true embodied authentic self in the world, in relationships, in your work, and with yourself. We might explore dreams, journaling, meaning, and all of this is always done within a container of compassion as we work together to pursue your own personal sense of wholeness.
