The personal:
I am a partner, a daughter, a sister, a city-dweller, and very central to my identity, a mother of 3 kids. I truly enjoy coming alongside women to explore the unique challenges of decisions about relationships and starting a family, fertility, pregnancy, postpartum mood and anxiety, and parenting. I really appreciate conversations about how to be embodied and find the sacred and spiritual in the mundane, busy, every day logistics of life and especially talking about navigating mothering in the city. I also work with people more generally on issues of life path, anxiety and stress management and connecting more deepy to one’s inner life and wisdom.
When we sit together, my intention is to always take a position of curiosity. You will get to know that I work primarily from a depth psychological perspective, based in the work of Carl Jung, which means that I focus on the wholeness that I believe is innate in every individual and look beyond the symptoms to the deeper inner life of the person seeking my help. Depth psychology is about allowing the parts of us that have been repressed or rejected to come forward, be witnessed, and re-integrated in order to experience transformation and healing from our suffering. I want to come alongside you as we together explore the lesser known parts of you that have been neglected perhaps for far too long. This work may come in the form of tending to your dream-life, body sensations, exploring your inner thoughts and feelings, or exploring life experiences and pathways to liberation, embodiment, and more self-compassion.
You might wonder if I have been in my own therapy. Yes, I have! I have done my own depth oriented Jungian psychological work and been in my own therapy for many years. I truly believe in the healing potential in the therapeutic process and relationship.
My experience also includes over 15 years of working with individuals struggling with eating disorders and body image dissatisfaction and shame and currently I am the Executive Director for an eating disorder program. I am interested in a few things specifically: the intersection of body shame and maternal mental health, binge eating disorder, and disordered relationship with food.
I take an embodied and compassion-focused approach to therapy and also offer gentle challenges and honest feedback as necessary in service of our relationship and your relationship with yourself.
I am deeply inspired by the work of Carl Jung and Marion Woodman and am a student of yoga, meditation, and mindfulness practices, often squeezed into the in-between spaces of working and raising kids. I love reading Mary Oliver poetry and I often incorporate meditation, breath work, and guided imagery into sessions in order to help you feel grounded, connected to your body, and have internal resources you can draw on when you are living daily life in challenging times.
I also can work with people in a non-therapy, coaching format to deepen mindfulness and meditation practices.
If you are interested in working together and investing in the process of integrating the parts of you that have been rejected or neglected, in service of a meaningful and connected life- please reach out- send me an email or give me a call. Let’s talk.
